I have been absolute crap at updating this blog and my sincere apologies. I reassure you all that life has been nothing short of wonderful for me. I have relocated to Sydney and have been having a blast getting to know my cousins. Strange how we grew up on different sides of the world with different upbringings, yet we are still similar in so many aspects.
I recently returned to Sydney from Phoenix (and by recently, i mean yesterday)! My jet lag on the way to the wedding was much worse than it is now. I felt sick with flu like symptoms which didn't make me much fun for the first three days in Phoenix. I even missed out on the shooting range :( But the wedding was beautiful and as expected, I cried as Janet and Dan exchanged vows. The rest of the day flew by with heaps of photos, food, drinks and laughing. Oh and the dancing. I pulled out the robot and I wasn't even drunk... That's how much fun I was having. It was incredible catching up with family; seeing how much my niece and nephew have grown. Connor is already a lady killer; breaking little girls hearts at the wedding. And breaking mine, as he told me I was his best friend as I gave him a hug goodbye at the airport.
So what awaits me in the next few weeks: Sydney for until the end of May. Then I'm off to Singapore for a few days to visit a friend, followed by an open ticket to HK. I was intending to be back by a certain time but a family situation has arose. And as most of you know, family is of utmost importance to me so I will be there until things are settled down. Fingers crossed and positive thoughts!!
A brief recap of my epic roadtrip up the east coast. So many gorgeous beaches and so many opportunities to cross off items from my bucket list. Diving in the Great Barrier Reef and holding a koala were definitely the highlights of the three week trip. I love snorkeling but diving offers a settling sense of peace, despite my lack of swimming abilities. Once you get a hang of breathing and adjusted to sounding like Darth Vader, it is very easy. I am really tempted to get my PADI now and dive in other parts of the world. First thing is first though - adult swim lessons! If I were stranded in the ocean, I could probably last a good ten minutes, tops! That's not much of a survival skill if you ask me...
Hope all is well back home and that Mother Nature is being pleasant. Goodbye snow and hello sunshine! It's Autumn over here and it's chilly as heck - boots and leather jacket, check!

Up, up and away!
I have packed up my things and driven up my things and started my road trip adventure up the east coast of Australia - a must do for anyone living here. We are day 5 of our road trip and have made excellent timing, although Mother Nature hasn't exactly been kind to us. It's poured rain 3.5 of the 5 days. Hopefully sunny skies as our adventure continues!
My apologies for the short post but updating a blog via iPhone isn't exactly easy... So my next post will be ultra wordy with an overuse of smiley faces and exclamation marks, I'm sure. So far, we have travelled to:
1. Yarra valley - lovely winery and a quaint house in Healesville
2. Eden - didn't see much since it just poured on us but we had some amazing fresh oysters and met some lovely locals
3. Kiama - alas some sun! A gorgeous beach town just outside of Sydney! We decided to stay the night since the weather looked promising and the meteorologists really delivered! Sunny skies all day today so we went for a swim and a bike ride along the coast. Breathtaking! I will never get sick of the ocean views.
4. Sydney - my soon to be new home :) the next couple days will be full of eating and exploring! Enjoyed a nice dinner with my Sydney extension of the family - pho and catch up! Lovely to be with family; always <3

Just Another Day in Paradise
Bula! Which is "hello" in Fijian! I am back in Melbourne after 5 beautiful days in Fiji.It was unlike any other beach vacation I have had. The Fijians were so warm and welcoming and not in the cheesy "I have to be nice to you because it's my job" or "I'm smiling because I want to sell you something." The friendliness was very genuine and it echoed their motto of "welcome home."
Our first night there, we stayed at the resort for dinner, since they were serving traditional Fijian dinner buffet, which consists mainly of fresh seafood, curries and everything made in coconut milk. I was in heaven! In your face lactose intolerance! I have found a substitute! The food was amazing and I had far too much. The pool at our resort, along with the gym was open 24 hours - say what?! Another difference to all the places I have traveled to. After our gluttonous meal, we decided to go for a night swim - yes, we waited for at least an hour after before swimming! Safety first! Called it an early night since we were exhausted from the flight. Funny thing about flying, you don't really do much. I mean food and drinks are served directly to your seat but just something about sitting their for seemingly, countless hours that causes exhaustion. Or maybe I am officially just lazy now? Either way, I was pooped!
The next morning, I awoke to a gorgeous sunrise; yes, it was that early! Decided to go for a jog around the resort and snap some beach photos. We were staying on Vitu Levi island near Nadi city. The beaches there are dark sand and the water quite murky due to the soil that gets pulled into the water so no one actually swims in the ocean. We decided to wander Nadi city and do some souvenir shopping after breakfast and shared a cab with a couple of girls from NZ. It was way too hot to catch the $1 bus into the city. AC was definitely a requirement for this 15 minute ride. The city was everything you would expect it to be; a little bit old school, jam packed with a mix of locals trying to sell things to foreigners, cars honking... At no point did I ever feel unsafe but by the end of the afternoon, I was a bit exhausted from the overwhelming number of offers to buy local products and to be someone's wife! We wandered to the Marina to book some tours and had a nice quiet dinner along the river just in time for sunset. Was absolutely beautiful. We then headed back for another night swim and met some fun people to hang out with. It seemed for the first day, Carla and I were the only single people on the resort! Fiji is very much a couples and family friendly place... So much so, I was even asked if we were 'partners' LOL. We partied too late this night, considering we all had to be up at 7 AM to catch our respective boat rides to Beachcombers Island. Oops!
Fast forward a few hours and we were up and dragging our feet to the Marina to be picked up. The boat ride to Beachcombers Island reminded me much of island hopping in Phuket. A small double decker boat surrounded by crystal clear water. I always find a sense of peace when I'm near any body of water - it's like a sense of calm washes over me; my soul at peace (in the least morbid way possible). As the boat approached the island, I was wide-eyed; like a kid in a candy store! Holy coconuts, this place was absolute paradise! White sandy beaches, crystal clear water! It took only 7 minutes to walk the entire island. We were told about the infamous party atmosphere but when we rocked up at 10 AM, the island was nearly desert, with only a few people scattered on the beach. I assume everyone was just nursing hangovers. When I saw drink prices at the bar, I was only more certain that everyone had holed up into their rooms, resting for yet another big night on the island. Talk about cheap drinks! We went snorkeling in the ocean and this way by far the most beautiful coral I have ever seen. Blue and purple starfish?! I didn't even know they existed! I saw a few Nemo's and many Dori's! Some of the people were lucky enough to see a shark but I missed out on that. Guess I will just have to wait until I get to the Great Barrier Reef and do some diving to see them :) The rest of the afternoon flew by - swimming, drinking, chatting with other travelers. Such a fabulous day. Even the crazy rainstorm that caused everyone to seek shelter at the bar didn't dampen our moods. We ended the night with yet another night swim at the resort pool but called it a super early night since we had to be up at 6 AM the next day for our rafting and waterfall tour. I know.. Waking up before 8 doesn't exactly scream VACATION!
6 AM came way too fast and Carla and I were both in zombie mode; going through the am motions without really registering what was happening. I passed out as soon as we got on the bus and 4 hours later, we arrived at Navau River. Again, being on the big island, the mixture of the soil and water created the murky colors of clay. The lush green surroundings definitely made up for the less than picturesque waters though. The waterfalls were breathtaking. The short walk which was described to us as a "hike," took about 10 minutes - think Johnston Canyon steps but much more narrow and less developed and that's the difficulty level of said, hike. The waterfall was gorgeous and the water was much colder than we were accustomed to but refreshing and just what I needed to wake up from my haze! After swimming and jumping from the waterfalls, we went bamboo rafting and then into a local village to see the traditional way of living. Very much comparable to the Maori's in New Zealand in using dried leaves to make mats, bookmarks etc. We learned that 'singalinga' means no worry and they really seem to apply that in their everyday lives. Suicide rates are super low in Fiji. Must. Learn. Not. To. Stress! I'm sure something we can ALL relate to!
We spent our last night having drinks at the resort bar. Our bartender was sweet enough to let us take advantage of Happy Hour specials before it officially started, giving us an hour head start. One too many into it, we noticed the bar was empty except for us and the live band. I guess parents need to sleep early... Lol. I think that was the best sleep I had the entire trip. I now understand why people have a glass of wine before bed. I was out like a light! Our last day was, at last, a nice day of lounging pool side. The trip flew by in a flash!
I am back in Melbourne, just in time for fashion week. Got my outfit today and got a new suitcase to separate what I'm sending home with Allan from what I'm taking with me to Brisbane, Sydney and Phoenix... I don't know how to dress myself! I feel like I'm picking favorites from my closet and the worst feeling is knowing I have the perfect outfit for something, only to have sent it back home. This feeling is worse than food envy, in my opinion; and that's saying a lot. I'm in Melbourne for only 4.5 short days and that's broken up between two weeks. I know I say it often but time is honestly on fast forward over here. There are not enough hours in the day to catch up with everyone before I go... And it makes me sad because each and everyone of them have contributed to the amazing experience I have had over here. It's been a wonderful love affair Melbourne - a bittersweet ending to an amazing chapter in my life.
To give some fair forewarning, April will be lagging in posts since Allan and I will be on the road for the first half and updating won't be on my list of priorities. I'm excited to see the east coast and see all these beautiful beaches friends rave about!! Off to sort out my suitcases now; procrastinating won't help my cause that's for sure. Now if anyone has any tips about merging 6 bags into one, please email, message or comment.. Any advice is welcome. Note: donating unwanted items has already been done. Curse my emotional attachment to my clothes...
** Picture to come... I haven't had time to upload them just yet! xx

Tasmadness!
Wow! I feel like I haven't updated this bad boy in ages... Life has been passing by at lightning speed on this side of the world. I blame my travel schedule and the decrease in page hits to my lack of motivation; as much as I hate to admit it, there is extrinsic motivation for me to keep this thing up to date. If no one is reading, why bother, right?! But for my dedicated readers, here you go! An update!
Bestie was here last week to visit and I had a blast! There's nothing like sharing my adventure and this part of my life with someone the people I care about - somehow makes the experience that much more real. Thank you for coming to see me love! I missed you dearly; I hope you had as much fun as I did. I'm so happy to have someone vouch for the wonderful life I have over here and how you (and I quote) "understand why you wouldn't want to come home!" <3 That and the cold Melb'n days! I'm not a sissy... Debbie can attest to that. We had some full on days in Melb'n; squeezing in as much site seeing as possible in the three short days D was here. St. Kilda for the Twilight Market and then to see the penguins; brunch, shopping, karaoke, more brunch, Queen Vic Market and of course, my favourite spot!
The 5 days we spent in Tasmania were just as, if not more, full on. We flew into Launceston and spent 1.5 days there - shopping, hiking, wineries, exploring, getting lost on the highway at night without my glasses. Good and scary times! Tasmania was a great place for me to practice driving and despite our scare the first night (curse you inconspicuous round about), I think I did pretty well. The towns we visited in Tassie were breathtaking; each more picturesque and beautiful than the last. St. Helen's, Wineglass Bay, Coles Bay... I wish we had more time. Unfortunately the 5 days went by way too quickly and before I knew it, we were bidding each other a tearful goodbye at Southern Cross station. We met some really awesome people on our adventurea. Most memorable was the couple at Messina (the famous Sydney gelato creation and the best I have ever had by the way! And I have been to Italy!) on Debbie's last night in Melb'n. We sat and chatted with them for well over an hour - they definitely lived up to the Aussie stereotype of being friendly az. Love it!
I'm officially moving out of my flat on Thursday :( I am going to miss this place; my awesome neighbours, Matt and I's living dynamic. We both spent the weekend at home - he was sick and I wanted to enjoy this flat before I move. We were also both saving our energy for Future Music Festival, which was yesterday. 35 scorching degrees and countless amazing DJ's! Needless to say, was a fabulous day - Martin Garrix, R3HAB, Pharrell, Kaskade, Macklemore, Rudimentals and who I was most hyped to see, Hardwell! The best part of Future besides Hardwell was the guy in a wheel chair, crowd surfing. As you've read in my previous posts, my love for music festivals extends, perhaps, beyond my love for popcorn. YES! That is a lot of love! Whenever people come together for one cause, I get overwhelmed with emotion, and witnessing this, while hearing one of my favourite DJ's was, well, pure bliss. I wish I captured that moment but I was too in awe of the situation to do anything but throw my hands up in the air and cheer.
It's a public holiday today - Labour Day and the city was more hustle and bustle than it usually is on a Monday. This week, I'll be busy trying to sort my life out via suitcases; separating my Fiji suitcase, from my Brisbane suitcase to the stuff I am sending home with Allan and the rest of my amazing friends who have offered spared space in their own luggage - you guys are total life savers :) Decisions, decisions! I am lucky enough to have a place to crash in between my trips - thanks again Tessa, Lachie & Qibo for taking me back in. I feel like a permanent couch fixture over there.
This is quite a short post with not much content. I just burnt a batch of Oreo and Smartie cookie bars and trying to fan out the scent of my lacking Martha Stewart skills. Before I sign off though, wanted to wish Tony a very Happy dirty 30! Can't believe you're Poppa Tiger now! And a Happy Birthday to Phunginator - you're only as old as you feel :)
As always, wishing you all lots of love! I'm off to Fiji on Friday for 5 days so won't be posting until I'm back for fashion week. Let the jet setting begin <3

Go Canada Go!
So I'm sitting here typing this while waiting for the Men's hockey final to start. Somehow I'm living "in the future" but the game start is delayed. I know most of you are up and watching this - GOOD MORNING! Let's take it Team Canada!! I apologize in advance if my thoughts seem disorganized - blogging, watching the game and replaying the game via whatsapp with you folks back home... I fear my multitasking skills have deteriorated...
The week started off slow... Monday, I was bored and seriously debating if I should go back to work and make some money rather than sitting on my behind doing nothing. Tuesday, Sosan and I went on a day road trip out to Lorne to chill out on the beach. It wasn't the best weather for the beach but I still enjoyed myself, nonetheless. The Great Ocean Road is breathtaking regardless of the weather. We hit up an amazing fish and chip shop on the way home for some fresh grilled fish. To die for!
Wednesday, Lachie, Tess, Qibo and I hit up the Queen Vic night market and it was awesome. Minus the rain. Summer is almost officially over on this side of the world... Where has time gone? As much as I love Autumn (what they call the Fall season),, I am just not ready for summer to end. The 40 degree weather days were definitely tough to deal with at first but I love the heat - the hotter the better! The one plus of being here for Autumn? Fall fashion!! Anyhoo, the night market was amazing - offering foods of all sorts and from many different countries. I had my first kangaroo patty and it was delicious! Some of you may cringe in disgust but kangaroo is super lean and very high in protein. It was great to catch up with these guys since we seem to have conflicting schedules all the time. Looking forward to moving back into this full house!
Benny found us a new dinner spot on Thursday - organic soup and Japanese cafe - no stress, no reservations; just good food and great company! The Ute (what we would call a truck) got stuck in the parkade and ended up costing $60 for over park?! Guess what Calgary, I have found a city that charges more for parking! I don't know if that's really a win...
Friday, I defied the logic of Melbn' living crossed the Yarra river to party on the south side. Yes friends, you were right. I am totally a south side girl = the entire vibe screamed MEEEEE! It was nice to catch up with this group of friends. I hadn't realized how much work nights was cramping my style until I was told the last time we saw each other was Halloween. Crazy. And here we were at the bar, wishing Sam well as he makes his way up the coast in his camper van. Soon to be yours truly, but in a much smaller vehicle.
White Night took over the city on Saturday evening - a 12 hour event, from dusk til dawn with live music, art exhibits and mainly light exhibitions. The streets were packed with people and I mean packed! I have been to Vegas for New Years Eve a handful of times and the crowds don't compared. Granted, the streets of Melbourne's CBD are much more narrow; it still felt the entire city was out to enjoy this unique event. There were various light shows on some of the major buildings; still and moving image art exhibits in lane ways, not to mention the random street shows. It was incredible. I was in absolute awe of the creativity and the intricate details which must have been considered in planning such a massive event.
Today, I awoke to wonderfully pleasant news! I am an auntie again - welcoming Stella Baretta into the world! After sending away some excited text exchange with hubby (yes, Tee is hubby and I'm wifey, even though she is the one with the baby!) I took advantage of the great weather we were blessed with - it has been the the first time all week, we have had a proper summer day. I was planning on spending the day in the park either reading or writing; neither of which, I have done much of lately. But when a friend rang up and wanted to catch up, I couldn't say no. So we ended up, you guessed it, at the beach! Not before grabbing a coffee on a patio and shopping at the St. Kilda summer market first.
So to answer many questions of what I do with my time, the above should give you an indication that life here is great :) each day, I plan something small and the rest of the day just slips away. Tomorrow, I'm planning to go snap some photos of Melb's infamous graffiti. I have been putting this off for so long... Procrastination really knows no bounds! Only a few more days until the bestest gets here. Going to be some full on days we are going to have so I can show her the wonderful life I have been living the last 5 months.
5 months is the longest I have been away from home... With all the travelling that is approaching, the home sickness I once felt has been replaced with utter excitement! Feels like it's been ages since I have been on a plane and felt that elation from exploring a new city. I think this is a 'high' I will be forever chasing. Travel, it really is my drug of choice!
Time to focus my attention on the game. Check back for pics! I will post once Canada takes that gold medal :)

As promised, pictures!
